Rang De Basanti Film Review:

Struggling British filmmaker Sue McKinley (Alice Patten) comes across the diary of her grandfather, Mr. McKinley (Steven Mackintosh), who served as a jailer in the British Army during the Indian independence movement. Through the diary, she learns about the story of five freedom fighters who were active in the movement: Chandrasekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru, Ashfaqulla Khan, and Ram Prasad Bismil. Having decided to make a film about them, Sue travels to India. With the help of her friend, Sonia (Soha Ali Khan), Sue initially casts four young men, Daljit "DJ" (Aamir Khan), Karan Singhania (Siddharth Narayan), Aslam (Kunal Kapoor) and Sukhi (Sharman Joshi), to portray as the revolutionaries.

Though they are not enthusiastic at the idea of acting in a film about the independence movement, Sue eventually manages to convince them. Laxman Pandey (Atul Kulkarni), a political party activist, joins the cast later, despite initially being unpopular due to his anti - Muslim beliefs and contempt for Aslam, a Muslim. In the process of filming, the idealism of India’s revolutionary heroes seeps into the protagonists. They gradually begin to realize that their own lives are quite similar to the characters they portray in Sue's film and that the state of affairs that once plagued the revolutionaries continues to torment their generation.

Meanwhile, Ajay Singh Rathod (R. Madhavan), a Flight Lieutenant in the Indian Air Force who is Sonia's fiancé, is killed when his fighter crashes. The government proclaims that the crash was caused by pilot error and closes the investigation. Knowing that Rathod was an ace pilot, Sonia and her friends do not accept the official explanation. Instead, they claim that he sacrificed his life to save hundreds of other lives that would have been lost had he ejected from the aircraft and left the aircraft to crash into populous city. They investigate and learn that the crash was due to a corrupt defence minister (Mohan Agashe), who had signed a contract exchanging cheap and illegal MiG-21 aircraft spare parts for a personal favour. To their surprise, they also learn that the key person who was responsible for organizing the deal was Karan's father, Rajnath Singhania (Anupam Kher).

Angered by the situation, the group and their supporters decide to protest peacefully at India Gate, a war memorial in New Delhi. Police forcefully break up their protest using batons; in the process, Rathod's mother (Waheeda Rehman) is severely hurt and she slips into a coma. DJ, Karan, Aslam, Sukhi, and Laxman decide that they must emulate the early freedom fighters and resort to violence to achieve justice. As a result, they kill the defence minister to avenge Rathod's death, while Karan murders his father for his corrupt actions. The minister is reported to have been killed by terrorists and is hailed as a martyr by the media. To bring forth their intentions behind the killings, the five of them attempt to reach the public through a radio station. They forcibly take over the All India Radio station premises after having evacuated its employees. Karan goes on air and reveals the truth about the defence minister and his wrongdoings. While still on the air, they are all killed in an ambush by the police and military commandos.

Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na Film Review:

The story begins at the airport. When Rotlu, Jiggy, Bombs and Shaleen offer to tell Mala, the tale of Jai and Aditi, a love story with joys and sorrows, happiness and heartbreaks, laughter, songs and fights…and a climax at the airport.

Meet Jai Singh Rathore aka ‘Rats’, the most non-violent Rajput ever. Meet Aditi aka ‘Meow‘, a highly aggressive girl. She abuses. She scratches (hence the name Meow). It is Jai alone who can calm Aditi. Aditi thinks that Jai is the biggest coward she has ever encountered. However Jai and Aditi are college-going bosom buddies.

Jai and Aditi are perfect for each other. Friends know this. Parents know this. Everybody but the two themselves.

Aditi dreams of a virile, macho husband, while Jai is the contrary. However, they decide to hunt for a perfect life partner for each other.

Jai falls in love with Meghna at the first sight in a pub where two psychos were misbehaving with her. Jai saves her, not by fighting but by tricking the two psychos. Meghna always played the game of imagination, “What’s this?” When, Meghna and Jai got close to each other, Rotlu, Jiggy, Bombs and Shaleen were happy for Jai but no body noticed that Aditi was missing Jai’s company. Aditi had noticed changes in Jai’s attitude.

Meghna informs Jai that her parents squabble together but cannot stay without each other. Jai visits Meghna’s parents. Her father was an alcoholic. Her parents always argued with each other and Jai was uncomfortable with them.

Aditi gets engaged to her father’s friend’s son, Sushant. Sushant was a spoilt playboy. At Jiggy’s birthday bash, Aditi introduces her fiancé. Seeing Aditi and Sushant together , Jai gets jealous and he realizes that he is actually in love with Aditi and the same goes with Aditi.

Jai realizes that Meghna is a girl who runs from the reality and hides in rather stupid refuges. Meghna breaks down, and lets Jai know how she became this way, and why. Meghna shares her dark childhood of her father having an extra-martial affair and her mother leaving the residence but later she only returns for Meghna with Jai. Meghna is hurt when she sees her parents in pain solely on her account. But since there's no other way round, she decides to close her eyes and see things the way she wants, in a happy manner. Therefore, according to her, her parents fight in a very cute manner. All is happy in the way she sees things, and does not want anyone to remove this veil before her eyes, until she is ready for it. The next day, to cheer up things, she kids Jai by saying that Aditi is the right girl for him and he should marry her, instead. Jai is taken aback, when Meghna laughs and apologises that she was only joking, and did not intend to shock Jai. But Jai reveals that there is more truth to the joke than Meghna thinks, and says that he is in love with Aditi in actuality. Meghna is shattered, and leaves with a good-bye kiss. Aditi reveals her feelings for Jai and Sushant slaps her on her face, leaving a bruise. Aditi decides to go to America to join a film program at New York University. Jai spots the bruise on Aditi’s face and thrashes Sushant.

Jai gets arrested and is put behind bars. There he encounters the two psychos, Bhaloo and Bhageera, who were harassing his Meghna in the pub. However, they find out that they are closely related cousins separated in chlidhood. They tell him that to become a man in their Rathore Clan, he must complete three conditions: 1.) Thrash someone 2.) Get arrested 3.) Ride a horse. They tell him that his father was a brave man and fought heroically but died. Jai realizes that his mother lied to him by claiming that his father was a non-violent person. Aditi makes her way to the international airport. Jai rides a horse of his cousin and heads towards the airport to chase her.

He crosses the security and seeks for Aditi. He finds her and sings Jaane tu…ya jaane na. Aditi gets delighted and hugs him.

Rotlu, Jiggy, Bombs and Shaleen conclude the story and welcome Jai and Aditi at the airport who just returned from their honeymoon. Mala introduces herself to them as Jiggy’s girlfriend.

Jodhaa Akbar Film Review:

Jodhaa Akbar is a sixteenth century love story about a political marriage of convenience that gave birth to true love between a great Mughal emperor, Akbar, and a Rajput princess, Jodhaa.

Political success knew no bounds for Emperor Akbar (Hrithik Roshan). After having secured the Hindu Kush, he furthered his realm by conquest until his empire extended from Afghanistan to the Bay of Bengal, and from the Himalayas to the Narmada River. Through a shrewd blend of diplomacy, intimidation and brute force, Akbar won the allegiance of the Rajputs. This allegiance was not universal. Maharana Pratap and many other Rajputs always considered Akbar as a foreign invader. Maharana Pratap also banned inter marriages between Rajputs who had given their daughters to the Mughals and the ones who did not. But little did Akbar know that when he married Jodhaa (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan), a fiery Rajput princess, in order to further strengthen his relations with the Rajputs, he would in turn be embarking upon a new journey – the journey of true love.

The daughter of King Bharmal of Amer, Jodhaa resented being reduced to a mere political pawn in this marriage of alliance, and Akbar’s biggest challenge now did not merely lie in winning battles, but in winning the love of Jodhaa – a love hidden deep below resentment and extreme prejudice. Jodhaa-Akbar is their untold love story.

Inside Ghajini:

Ghajini is an action-thriller, with strong romantic elements, that explores the life of a rich businessman who suffers from anterograde amnesia following a violent encounter in which his love interest, model Kalpana, was killed. He tries to avenge the killing with the aid of Polaroid Instant camera photographs and permanent tattoos on his body. The character of Aamir Khan will also feature in a 3-D video game titled Ghajini The Game, which is based on the movie.

Mumbai-based wealthy Sanjay Singhania is the Chair of Air Voice, lives now as a semi-crazed recluse in Odyssey Apartments in Hiranandani Complex. He was loved by Kalpana Shetty, a spunky and compassionate ad model, who rescued 25 young girls from the clutches of a gangster named Ghajini Dharmatma, but ended up getting killed by him. Sanjay has put together his past life piece by piece through tattoos, notes on his wall, Polaroid photographs, etc.. not knowing that soon he will be investigated by Inspector Arjun Yadav; betrayed by a 'friend' named Sunita; while Ghajini and his goons are out to erase every bit of evidence he has gathered in his apartment and thus ensure that he ends up remembering nothing.

Delhi 6 Review:

The film opens with the ailing grandmother Annapurna at the office of a cardiac surgeon in New York. The surgeon indicates that Annapurna suffers from heart blockage and may not have long to live. Annapurna insists on returning to Delhi, her hometown, where she intends to die in peace. Though her son and daughter-in-law object vehemently, her American-born grandson Roshan (Abhishek Bachchan) (who has a special bond with his grandmother) agrees to bring her back.

Annapurna is received with pomp and ceremony when she returns to her home in Old Delhi. Roshan is initially stunned by the mad rush of various neighbors: Ali Baig (Rishi Kapoor) the renaissance man, feuding brothers Madangopal(Om Puri) and Jaigopal, their wives and families, Mamdu (Deepak Dobriyal) the halwai, Gobar (Atul Kulkarni) the simpleton, Sethji and many others. However, Roshan eventually warms to the place and wholeheartedly embraces the sense of community in it. He accompanies his grandmother to the Ramleelas, hangs out at Mamdu's sweet stall, plays with the children, and gradually becomes steeped in the culture of the place.

Roshan is also slowly exposed to some sobering realities. When Annapurna faints (due to fluctuating blood sugar levels) and they scramble to get her to a hospital, he finds the roads choked by traffic because of an impromptu ceremony around a cow in labor; he is further surprised when his grandmother, despite her stupor, stumbles forth to seek the blessings of a sacred cow; and he is astounded when the local police seem to encourage the practice. Roshan begins to understand the feuds and social issues in the community. Madangopal's sister Rama (Aditi Rao Hydari) is unwed (at an age when spinsterhood is a significant social no-no) and Jaigopal's electrical business is going nowhere. The lecherous old local money lender Lala Bhairam (Prem Chopra) is married to a young girl who, in turn, is having an affair with a young photo-studio hand Suresh(Cyrus Sahukar). Suresh is a double timer who is also pursuing Madangopal's daughter Bittu (Sonam Kapoor). Bittu secretly wants out of the stuck-in-time Old Delhi; she secretly prepares to audition for a popular reality show Indian Idol in the hope that she will win her way to Mumbai. Roshan comes to appreciate Ali Baig's cosmopolitan tastes and is surprised to learn that Ali Baig fancied his mother many years ago, and has since never married. And Roshan comes to empathize with the lower-caste trash collector girl Jalebi(Divya Dutta) who must endure untouchability at social functions except for when some of the brutish locals seek company. Roshan also crosses paths with the loutish inspector Ranvijay who blithely stretches his authorities to manhandle the locals, and becomes acquainted with the local assembly-woman who displays political power at every opportunity.

In the meantime, the news media is all abuzz with tales of a fearsome terror known only as the "Kala Bandar (The Black Monkey)". This miscreant (never shown clearly in the film) attacks people, steals various articles and has also caused the death of a few innocent people. (These deaths are mostly accidental, as in the example of a pregnant housewife who was supposedly startled by a silhouette and fell down a flight of stairs or the example of an unfortunate man who was briefly zapped by a live electric wire.) Nonetheless, the local news picks up on every move by the kala bandar and loudly blares about all his exploits. Jaigopal, the self-proclaimed electronics genius, theorizes that the kala bandar likely has an electrical circuit (to zap his victims) and may be electrocuted by water; this rumor is quickly propagated through the locality.

The film takes several turns. After some initial friction, Roshan and Bittu warm to each other. Roshan intervenes when Bittu is about to receive a prospective suitor arranged by Madangopal. He echoes Bittu's desire to pursue other dreams; this drives the suitor away and brings Madangopal's wrath upon him. He gradually begins to fall in love with Bittu, but is confused when Bittu expresses her affections for Suresh (she believes he will support her dreams). Around this time, the kala bandar attacks Old Delhi. The simple-minded locals bring in a tantrik Shani baba to exorcize the demonic influence of the kala bandar. After an extended havan ceremony, the tantrik baba indicates that the local mosque, built over the ruins of a temple that was demolished for the purpose, is the provocation for the evil soul of the kala bandar. This promptly stokes animosity in the otherwise harmonious Hindu-Muslim community. After the initial peaceful demonstrations (by rallies and angry meetings), various mobs go on rampage and tear up some of the local streets.Mamdu sets fire to the tree temple. Roshan attempts to make peace, but is rebuffed because of his mixed religious parentage. The locals ultimately settle on the fact that the kala bandar is hiding out in the sooni galli (a dark lane known to harbor evil presences) and must be destroyed. They command the simpleton Gobar to fetch a lock of hair from the evil enemy so that the tantrik can burn it and complete the exorcism.

Roshan becomes aware of Bittu's plan to elope with Suresh, and that Suresh is a low-life two timer. He dons a monkey mask and monkey outfit and stealthily follows Bittu by leaping across the rooftops. In the meantime Gobar ventures into the sooni galli where Jalebi gives him a lock of her hair so he may return in triumph and bring peace to the community. At that moment, Roshan (in his monkey outfit) intercedes in Bittu and Suresh's rendezvous and causes the cowardly Suresh to flee. Bittu raises a loud alarm before Roshan unmasks himself, whereupon the angry locals storm the place. Believing Roshan to be the kala bandar, they beat him to within an inch of his life and Mamdu shoots him. Then, Gobar comes up with a startling deduction about the reality of the kala bandar.

The revelation stops the violence. Roshan is nearly dead. He recovers and decides to remain in Old Delhi and affirm his love for Bittu. The film ends on a happy note with peace and joy restored to the community of Old Delhi.

Life Partner Film Review:

Life Partner is a comedy based on the institution of marriage. The film is about three close friends, each one having a different perspective about marriage. Govinda plays a divorce lawyer in the film who doesn't believe in marriage and is a Casanova of sorts. Fardeen Khan plays a character for whom being in love matters most and Genelia D'Souza plays his love interest. Tusshar Kapoor plays a Gujarati who believes in the system of arranged marriage and Prachi Desai plays his Gujarati wife.
